Home Care Medicine Nonprofits form Joint Federation

American Academy of Home Care Medicine (AAHCM) and Home Centered Care Institute (HCCI) are organizations dedicated to promoting and increasing the accessibility of home care medicine across the country.  The two nonprofits share the same goals as of creating universal access to home care programs and making home-based primary care a mainstream practice.  AAHCM and HCCI have been trying to form a strategic partnership, as there has always been a desire to merge and collaborate, they have always cross-promoted each other’s programs and services, worked together on an ad hoc basis, and even shared three overlapping board members.  A merger would yield benefits including complementary programs, reduced duplication/competition, the ability to scale more effectively and improved administration.  They decided that a joint federation would be the best fit to keep them from being viewed as competitors externally and allow them to have full transparency and shared leadership for increased program efficiency. The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help cover the cost of a consultant to facilitate the merger.
