Hudson Valley-Based Healthcare Organizations Explore a Merger

Hudson Valley Community Services (HVCS) and Cornerstone Family Healthcare (CFH) are healthcare organizations in overlapping counties throughout the Hudson Valley that collectively offer a range of clinical and community-based services in an area of high need, focused on populations that lack access through traditional means of service delivery.  HVCS serves low-income clients living with chronic diseases, while CFH is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), providing high-quality, comprehensive primary and preventative healthcare services. The two organizations perform similar work in addiction care, HIV/AIDS care, women, infants, and children care, and managed care. However, each organization has unique programs they would contribute to a merged organization, including behavioral health services, nutrition, housing, transportation, criminal justice services, and harm reduction programs. The exploration revealed benefits including programmatic alignment and efficiency, and increased financial sustainability.  A grant from The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration helped support a portion of the one-time costs of the exploration.
