The mission of “I Have a Dream” Foundation (IHADF) is to empower children from under-resourced communities to succeed in school, college, and careers by providing academic, social, and emotional support. IHADF’s NYC-based national organization traditionally served as an umbrella organization serving a network of 14 affiliates around the country. The New York affiliate provides direct services, operating nine program sites in the New York City metropolitan area. IHADF’s national headquarters and New York affiliate were already co-located, and in response to leadership transitions in the New York affiliate, they decided to merge in order to increase stability and efficiency. The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help cover one-time costs of the transaction.
