Two Nonpartisan Government Oversight Organizations Merge

Open the Government (OTG) was formed in 2003 as an inclusive, nonpartisan coalition to strengthen our democracy and empower the public by advancing policies that create a more open, accountable, and responsive government. Project on Government Oversight (POGO) has existed for more than 40 years to promote an effective, accountable, and just federal government. POGO has been expanding its work through strategic mergers over the last decade and was approached by Open the Government to ascertain if there would be an interest in merging. POGO believes that the OTG coalition would provide value added to its work toward racially equitable accountability. The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help fund the implementation of the merger.
