Both the United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries (UWCND) and the United Way Kitchener Waterloo (UWKW) served the Waterloo Region of Ontario, Canada. Due to changing community conditions and their common geography, UWCND and UWKW decided to merge in order to increase capacity and engagement across the region. With the support of a grant from the SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration to cover partial costs of the merger, the United Way Waterloo Region Communities (UWWRC) was formed.
