The water and sanitation sector is well known for its fractured nature, with many organizations around the world working on related issues using similar strategies and approaches, but often independently and with little coordination. The Pacific Institute identified an opportunity for nonprofits to work together to use mobile phone technology to collect, exchange, and disseminate information in support of clean water access. The Lodestar Foundation helped fund a consultant to facilitate a convening of key organizations working in the global water and sanitation sector to develop ongoing collaboration strategies and continual exchange of information.
