Regional Arts Organizations Collaborate to Digitize Museum Collections

In 2009, five arts non-profits in the Hudson Valley—the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum, the Center for Photography at Woodstock, the Women’s Studio Workshop, and the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild—created an ad hoc Hudson Valley Visual Art Collections Consortium (HVVACC) to develop a joint digital database and a regional collections study and storage facility. The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help fund a consultant to explore the feasibility of the idea. The organizations went forward with the collaboration, and as a result, the collections of each of the five museums can now be viewed online.
