Acquisition to Preserve Public Integrity Data

In 2022, we supported the merger between Project On Government Oversight (POGO) and Open the Government to combine strengths and advance the shared goal of a more open, accountable, and effective government that serves the public interest. In March 2025, the Center for Public Integrity (CPI) ceased operations and POGO acquired its assets, which primarily consisted of a vast collection of investigative reports and data related to government integrity. CPI was a nonprofit newsroom investigating inequity and holding powerful interests accountable. The transfer of archives will preserve and maintain public access to CPI’s work. The Lodestar Foundation provided a grant to help cover the costs associated with transitioning and maintaining the websites and archiving physical papers. We believe the acquisition of CPI’s website and archives will continue to enhance POGO’s mission of championing reforms to achieve a more effective, ethical, and accountable federal government that safeguards constitutional principles.
