Larimer Humane Society (LHS) provides animal care, shelter, and control, as well as adoption services, in Larimer County in northern Colorado. The Humane Society of Weld County (HSWC) provides adoption, lost & found, and owner surrender services, as well as humane education programs, in Weld County, Colorado. HSWC was struggling with increasing annual intake requests, declining revenues, and more than a decade of leadership instability. HSWC will dissolve, transfer its assets to LHS and LHS will assume responsibility for all shelter services in Weld and Larimer Counties. The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help cover the implementation costs of this acquisition.
