Several Arizona organizations formed the Arizona Homelessness and Hunger Funders Collaborative to give critical support to nonprofits providing relief in the wake of the 2008 recession. The Collaborative focused on providing targeted financial support in an accelerated manner to key agencies, programs, and activities concentrated on ending homelessness and hunger. The Collaborative continued for five years and distributed more than $1 million each year to direct-service agencies. The Lodestar Foundation participated in the Collaborative for its final two years.
