Three Communities In Schools (CIS) organizations in South Carolina – in the Charleston Area, Midlands, and Greenville – explored a merger into one statewide organization. Consolidating into a single entity would unlock access to state‐wide public and private funding sources that were previously inaccessible, allow thousands more at‐risk students to receive the support they need to thrive, decrease overall administrative costs and raise additional funding to expand into more schools. A grant from The Lodestar Foundation supported the cost of a consultant to facilitate the exploration.
