Initiative Engages Arizona Nonprofits in Collaboration Discussions

In 2011, the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits conducted its Re-Engineering Community Capacity initiative, an effort to build lasting systems of collaboration within the Arizona nonprofit community. With the support of a grant from the Lodestar Foundation, the Alliance conducted four statewide training sessions to engage nonprofits in dialogue about collaboration ideas and best practices, in addition to facilitating “Collaboration Exchanges” that brought together organizations with common missions to discuss collaborating. The exchanges resulted in the formation of at least two broad coalitions—one in Yuma to share volunteer resources, and one involving Phoenix at-risk youth organizations—and many other one-to-one and small group collaboration discussions.
