Founded in the 1990s by young people who wanted to be active world citizens, both Global Youth Action Network (in New York City) and Taking IT Global (in Toronto, Canada) worked to bring together like-minded young people from around the globe to create social change. The two organizations realized they could be more effective by entering into a co-management agreement. By combining efforts, they expected to improve operational procedures and minimize costs, offer improved support and services to the global youth movement in a consolidated fashion, and strengthen their collective impact. A grant from Lodestar supported the collaboration. Global Youth Action Network now operates as a program of Taking IT Global.
