Search for Common Ground seeks to prevent and end violent conflict by helping divided people build trust and collaborate to address challenges. Preemptive Love provides rapid and ongoing response to crises by providing jobs and fostering communities. The conversation around merging was initiated by the Preemptive Love board in the wake of a public scandal related to internal culture and staff treatment, which led to the termination of the founders/executive directors of the organization in January 2022. The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help defray the costs of IT integration associated with the implementation of the merger.
