Merger of Two Urban Exchange Learning Programs

The Chicago Center for Urban Life and Culture offers opportunities for college students (traditionally from rural colleges and universities) to live, learn, and work in Chicago through semester exchange programs. Albion College (located in Albion, Michigan) owns and operates The Philadelphia Center that offers undergraduate students experiential education opportunities in an urban environment – the City of Philadelphia. In the wake of both programs’ suspending residential operations in 2020/2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Albion decided that it would search for a new institutional home for the Philadelphia Center. The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help cover the implementation funding to support the transfer of The Philadelphia Center program from Albion College to The Chicago Center.
