Merger Results in Continuum of Services for Victims of Domestic Violence in Arizona

Jewish Family and Children’s Service (JFCS) provides behavioral health services and medical care to children and families in Arizona with a wide variety of programs including counseling, trauma assessment and treatment, child crisis intervention and rehabilitation, support for victims of domestic violence, substance abuse treatment, and more. Sojourner Center is a residential program for women and children affected by domestic violence in Arizona. In 2017, Sojourner Center approached JFCS to propose a merger in order to ensure the continuation of Sojourner Center’s services. Recognizing that a merger would result in a full continuum of services for victims of domestic violence, including crisis shelter, transitional living, and support services, JFCS agreed to merge. The Lodestar Foundation provided a grant to help fund one-time costs of the transaction.
