Merging Complementary Programs to Increase Impact and Scale

Using experience-based programs to promote environmental education and community engagement, Hazon and the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Centre have been connected for many years through their complementary programs, which have many participants in common.  As both entities were seeking to build their programs and invest in capacity, they began exploring the possibility of collaboration.  The organizations decided to merge in order to deepen the impact of their programs and increase the scale of organizational infrastructure.  The merged entity, which kept the name Hazon, received a challenge grant from the SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration to support one-time costs associated with the merger.
