Two National Organizations Advocating for Victims of Gender-Based Violence Explore Merging

National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women (“NCDBW”) is a resource and advocacy center for victims of battering charged with crimes related to their experiences of abuse. Battered Women’s Justice Project (“BWJP”) is a national legal center focused on civil and criminal justice responses to gender-based violence. Upon the retirement of both organizations’ long-time Executive Directors, the leadership of both nonprofits believe a merger could provide additional support to staff, promote sustainability of both organizations, and increase capacity to serve victims of battering. The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help fund the cost of a facilitator to assist in the exploration.
