Support for Nonprofit Investing in Developing Nations

Acumen was founded in 2001 to use the power of entrepreneurship to solve the problems of poverty in developing nations. By investing “patient capital” and providing management support services, Acumen aims to bridge the gap between the efficiency and scale of market-based approaches and the social impact of pure philanthropy. The Lodestar Foundation was an earlier investor in Acumen, providing several grants to support its work.
