Springboard Collaborative provides programming to help students learn to read at or above grade level by third grade. It partners with school districts in nine states and DC to provide professional development to teachers and workshops to parents to help them teach reading at home. Future Forward helps elementary school children develop the skills they need to become confident readers through individualized tutoring and family engagement. Springboard is interested in the Future Forward program to expand its offerings and capitalize on the organizations’ alignment on parent engagement. The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help cover costs associated with legal support to determine the best structure for the collaboration. The organizations ultimately moved forward with the asset transfer with Springboard acquiring Future Forward.
